Patricia Mwangi, PhD, is a Geospatial Engineer with over 10 years working experience. Her doctoral research in the Environmental Planning and Management program at Kenyatta University focused on modeling the spatial relationship between built-up volume densities and surface urban heat islands. She is a currently Lecturer of Spatial and Environmental Planning at Kenyatta University. Her research interests are related to urbanization, land cover change, air quality, surface temperature analysis, and climate change using remote sensing and GIS technologies. She is an active and full member in the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (MISK), the chair of ISPRS Working Group III/4, Landuse and Landcover Change Detection, and a mentor in the African Women in GIS (AWiGIS). She has authored several papers and book chapters, and is a reviewer of articles in various journals. View her personal research website.
